Traffic stop leads to DUI charge

A traffic stop in Carbon County led to a driving under the influence charge pending against the driver.

State police at Lehighton said Kimberly Ann Thompson, 27, of Philadelphia, was stopped at the Mahoning Valley exit of the turnpike in Franklin Township, about 9:50 a.m. on Sunday, after being observed committing several traffic violations.At the stop Thompson showed signs of being under the influence of a controlled substance. She failed field sobriety tests and was transported to the Lehighton hospital for a blood test.Charges of DUI of a controlled substance is pending test results, troopers said.
