A survey in Carbon, Monroe and Pike counties was conducted to gather opinions regarding smoking in public places.

The survey was given by Melissa Rehrig, MPH candidate at East Stroudsburg University.Results showed that 80 percent of those responding would support a law that regulates exposure to secondhand smoke in indoor public places. Seventy-seven percent support no smoking in workplaces; 73 percent support no smoking in restaurants; and 63 percent support no smoking in bars.According to a report by the Surgeon General, secondhand smoke causes premature death in those who do not smoke.
