The night skies over Summit Hill were alive in a rainbow of color Saturday during the second annual Fireworks at The Ginder.
Dozens of families attended the informal event at the Philip Ginder Stadium. The evening started at 7 p.m., with DJ Scott Carnish playing music, while children played and enjoyed the outdoors.Kevin Steber, organizer of Fireworks at The Ginder, explained the event was made possible through a joint effort between the Summit Hill Recreation Commission, his wife Kira, 18 business sponsors and the residents of the borough."It was a good community effort," he said. "It was very much wanted this year by the residents."Steber added that the reason he decided to organize the family fun night and fireworks was because he wanted to promote staying in town and having fun with the community. At 9 p.m., 4-year-old Paige Goida of Summit Hill drew the winning iPad raffle ticket, naming Jodi McAndre, the winner.Taylor Horvat of Lansford sang the national anthem before Steber, in coordination with Celebration Fireworks, set off the highlight of the evening."I want to thank everyone the sponsors, the people who came out and those who made this possible for supporting the event," Steber said."I look forward to seeing you again next year."
