State police at Fern Ridge are investigating a theft by deception incident.

Troopers said Diane T. DiPietro, 301 Cold Spring Drive in Jim Thorpe, Penn Forest Township, reported unknown people scammed her when they had her purchase prepaid cards in order for them to approve a personal loan she applied for.The victim said she provided the card numbers to the suspects, who then took the funds.
