Firefighters from across Northampton and Lehigh counties responded to a church fire early Thursday morning in Lehigh Township.

The fire was first reported just before 2 a.m. in the roof of the gymnasium of the Bethany Wesleyan Church along Blue Mountain Drive.Ladder trucks placed firefighters on the roof of the structure to battle the flames.Several holes were opened in the roof to reach those flames.
