United Dream Ride to Knoebel's set for August

The United Dream Ride, benefiting the Blue Ridge Chapter of Dream Come True, will take place at 10 a.m. Aug. 10 at the American Legion Post 927 on Route 209 in Gilbert.

Riders of both motorcycles and cars will depart at 10 a.m. for Knoebel's Amusement Park in Elysburg, weather permitting.Traffic will be controlled by police with special blockers to ensure a safe and easy 87-mile ride.Pre-registration is available from 7 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. before departure. The American Legion will be offering breakfast and coffee that morning as a last minute donation for the cause. There will also be music and a few special guests.The cost for a driver is $25 and a passenger is $10.Lunch will be provided at Knoebel's at the end of the ride, which will be around 2 p.m.Children who are benefiting from the Dreams Come True organization will be present at Knoebel's that day.The United Dream Ride is organized by Wayne Halliday in memory of his daughter, Emily, who passed away 13 years ago from trisomy 13."Her memory is why this all came together," Halliday said.
