Domestic assault incident reported

Jim Thorpe police reported a borough resident was jailed following a domestic assault incident.

On May 23 at 5:49 p.m. police were dispatched to 372 Highland Hill Road for an active domestic incident involving an injury.On scene officers were told by a woman who had a noticeable injury to the left side of her face and forearm, that she was struck by Norman Nelson Strohl, 47. She said she was attempting to leave during a verbal altercation with Strohl when he threw her to the ground and struck her with an open hand on the left side of her face. She was transported to the Lehighton hospital for evaluation.Norman Strohl admitted to striking the victim during the altercation. He was arrested and charged with one count each of simple assault and harassment.He was arraigned before District Judge Edward Lewis, of Jim Thorpe, and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
