The Jim Thorpe Summer Recreation Program is set to begin on Monday in Memorial Park in Jim Thorpe.

The day camp is for Jim Thorpe Area School District children from second through sixth grade. The camp will end on Aug. 12 and there will be no program on July 3, 4 or 7.All children must register at the camp with a parent, one time only, and must sign in and out daily.The morning session is from 9 a.m. until noon and the afternoon session is from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.Children attending all day must bring a lunch.Each Wednesday, there will be a trip to Mauch Chunk Lake Park. Campers will take a bus departing from Memorial Park at 10 a.m.All activities, including arts, crafts, sports and games, are offered at no cost, and campers may attend any or all sessions.The Jim Thorpe Rotary Club is the coordinating organization in the camp's 18th consecutive year of serving the children in the Jim Thorpe area.
