No injuries reported in Hometown crash

No one was seriously injured in an unusualaccident on the Hometown Hill (Route 309) on Wednesday.

James Marcum of Lehigh Street, Tamaqua, was driving north, operating a Ford Expedition, towing a heavily loaded travel trailer, shortly after 5 p.m. As the combo reached the curve near Taggertsville Road, the camper began to lean to one side. Marcum tried to compensate, but was unable to keep the trailer from overturning, which then caused the SUV to flip on its side.Marcum and his family were in the process of moving and were accompanied by their dog and six cats. The humans and dog were able to safely exit the overturned vehicle, but the family's cats were reportedly trapped in the camper. Volunteers unloaded the packed trailer, box by box, searching for the animals, after it was carefully uprighted by Hope's Towing. Traffic was limited to a single lane for more than two hours until all of the animals were safely found and the vehicles were towed from the scene.
