Woman drives off with gas hose attached to car

Lehighton Police say a woman is facing DUI charges after she drove off with a gas pump hose dragging from her car. Her three small children were not in car seats or wearing seat belts so they were placed into the care of Carbon County Children and Youth.

At 12:44 p.m. Wednesday, Lehighton Police received a report of a female driving with small children that were unbuckled at PNC Bank on Route 443.A Lehighton officer was nearby and Mahoning Police requested he assist in locating the vehicle.The Lehighton officer observed the vehicle fueling at the Giant gas pumps. Before the officer made contact with the car the driver pulled away from the pumps with the pump nozzle still inserted in her vehicle.As a result the fuel hose snapped at its safety connection dragging alongside the vehicle.The officer immediately stopped the vehicle and found three children ages 2, 5, and 7 with no proper safety seats.Charges against the driver of the vehicle Kathleen Mary Gannecilli of Lansford are pending the results of a blood test.The fuel pump was placed out of service for repairs.
