West Penn Lions and West Penn Lioness join for installation ceremony, member recognition

The West Penn Township Lions Club and West Penn Township Lioness Club held their installation banquet June 4 at Knepper's Inn in New Ringgold. At the banquet, the officers and directors of each club were installed by Sharon Kimmel, district governor-elect.

During the evening both clubs also presented special awards to deserving members.Installed as President of the Lions for a second term was Melissa Kistler. Other officers include: First Vice President Deb Saunders, Second Vice President Mike Hunsicker and Third Vice President Kurt Trumbauer; Past District Gov. Bob Neumoyer was installed as secretary; Sarah Trumbauer as treasurer; Becky Neumoyer as lion tamer and Leroy Wentzel as tail twister.One-year directors include PDG Paul Barth, Joe Bednarik and Joan Hufnagle. Two-year directors are Becky Neumoyer, DG Lizanne McElwee and Sam Betz. Lions Membership Team includes Becky Neumoyer, Wilma Wentzel and Curtis Bailey.The Lioness also named their new officers and directors. President for the 2014-2015 year is Karissa Brothers and First Vice President is Lucinda Tuckett. Installed as secretary was Becky Zehner and as treasurer, Marie Gursky. Lioness Joan Hufnagle will be serving as tail twister. One-year directors include Barbara Lushia, Geraldine Balliet and Jean Swartz. Two-year directors are Marie Barth, Ann Fedor and Rebecca Neumoyer.Past International director Bob Miller presented two Melvin Jones Fellowships to Lisa Sharpe and Melissa Kistler in recognition of their participation in community service projects and dedication to Lions.The Melvin Jones Fellow is named after the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones. This is the highest recognition that is given by Lions Clubs International Foundation. The foundation provides relief for disasters and assists with other needs throughout the world, and even as local as Pine Grove in 2011 for flood disaster relief.Service Chevrons were awarded to several Lions in recognition of reaching milestone years of service as follows: 55 years: Past International Director Robert Miller and Richard Breiner; 40 years: Dale Titus and Lee Schaffer; 30 years: Past International Director Ed Dudley; 25 years: Past District Governor Scott Dudley; 15 years: Leroy Wentzel and District Governor Lizanne McElwee; and 10 years: Pat Bednarik. Perfect attendance awards for the 2013-2014 year were also presented to 15 Lions.
