Crashes probed

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating two, one-vehicle crashes, on Sunday, June 15.

A crash occurred about 6:38 p.m. along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Erick J. Lora Estevez, 20, of Hazle Township, Luzerne County, was driving a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant westbound when a deer entered the road in front of him. He was unable to avoid the animal and struck and killed it. Lora Estevez and his passenger Edwin B. Leon, 18, of Hazleton, were not injured.The second crash occurred about 7:11 p.m. along McIlhaney Road, near Kennel Road, in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Jasmine A. Sinclair, 19, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2005 Suzuki Verona northbound when the vehicle left the road on the right side and struck a utility pole along the berm.Sinclair was not injured.
