More than 60 pay tribute to Tamaqua murder victim

A candlelight vigil Saturday drew more than 60 to Tamaqua Depot Square Park for a ceremony to celebrate the life a murder victim and offer support.

Friends and family of Angela Steigerwalt gathered for a balloon launch, readings, candlelight tribute, prayer, and a chance to share intimate memories of the Tamaqua woman murdered in Allentown Feb. 1."She was special," said Gina Hunsicker, Jim Thorpe, who, with daughter Gabi, organized the event. Both were close friends of Steigerwalt.Attendees came from a wide area, many from the Lehigh Valley, to pay tribute to the woman who died tragically at age 35.Her accused killer, Anthony Heath, 24, of Allentown, remains lodged in Lehigh County Prison charged with homicide and five other offenses related to Steigerwalt's death.After a March hearing, District Judge Patricia Engler forwarded charges to Lehigh County Court, where Heath now faces trial..
