Pleasant Valley sends 415 graduates into the world

The Pleasant Valley High School gymnasium was a sea of blue and white as 415 high school seniors received their diplomas Friday night.

It was the 54th graduating class at Pleasant Valley.Besides all the pomp and circumstance, the gym radiated with great joy from the seniors to their guests."Class of 2014, this is your special night," Principal John Gress said. "You'll remember it the rest of your life."In a light moment, as Dana McAllister, the Class of 2014's salutatorian, turned her back to the graduation class, she lifted up her cellphone and took a "selfie" with her classmates behind her."Now to be serious," she began. "The world is a blank canvas and we are the artists."Patrick Rimple, valedictorian, looked out at his classmates and said there were countless stories for each face he saw.He shared the popular quote, "Dance like nobody's watching; love like you've never been hurt. Sing like nobody's listening; live like it's heaven on earth."After the caps were tossed and the Long Blue Line received their guests, the seniors were the guests of honor at a Chem Free party held in Pleasant Valley Middle School's cafeteria.Check out the Times News Graduation supplement, which will be published on June 26.
