Graduates from Kutztown University

Kaitlyn Elizabeth Keich, daughter of John andJeanine Keich of Hometown, graduated summa cum laude on May 10 from Kutztown University with a bachelor of science degree in secondary education with a concentration in social studies.

Kaitlyn received the Outstanding Senior in History Award and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, an honor society that recognizes superior scholarship in students from the top 10 percent of the graduating class.She is also a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society that recognizes exceptional ability in the field of education, and Phi Alpha Theta, an honor society for students in history for outstanding scholarly achievement.At the 2013 Phi Alpha Theta East Regional Conference in History, she was a presenter for her paper entitled, "Nixon and the End of the Imperial presidency."She was named Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and is a member of the university dance team, the Association of Campus Events, and History Club.At the America Reads program at Kutztown Middle School, she participated by tutoring students.Kaitlyn is a campus representative for Walt Disney World Company, with whom she completed an internship in Florida as a character performer. While in Florida, she had the opportunity to volunteer at Give Kids the World Village.She has accepted a job with the Philadelphia Museum of Art, writing the curriculum for the Treasures of Korea exhibit.Kaitlyn is a 2010 graduate of Tamaqua Area High School. She graduated summa cum laude in 2012 from Lehigh Carbon Community College with an associate degree in education.
