The Preceptor Alpha Upsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority met at two Kings Pizza in Hometown with Lori Schmerfeld serving as hostess.She provided a program detailing the history of chocolate, with an emphasis on the Hershey brand. Everyone was provided with a sample and the group played a game related to chocolate.The Secret Sister birthday party was held at the home of Helen Walters, who presented a program on the history of the cupcake, providing preparation tips. The party theme was "cupcakes."The chapter presented monetary donations to the Beta Sigma Phi Endowment Fund and the Tamaqua Borough Recreation Committee.The next meeting will be held June 18 at the Mirakuya Japanese Restaurant in Hazleton. The meeting will include an installation of officers.West Penn VFWSummer meetings at the West Penn VFW will be held at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday in June, July, August and Sept.
