State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating the following crashes.
A one-vehicle crash was reported at 8:56 p.m. on June 2 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County.Troopers said Alysia T. Virkler, 25, of Medina, Ohio, was driving a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound when she suffered a medical emergency causing her to lose control of the vehicle.The Jeep went onto the berm and sideswiped a guide rail with its driver's side area, re-entered the road and struck a guard rail with its front end bumper area while going back onto the berm.Virkler suffered a minor injury and was taken by Lake Harmony ambulance to the Geisinger-Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, Luzerne County. Damages were termed moderate to the Jeep.A two-vehicle crash occurred at 4:03 p.m. Sunday along Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said a 2007 Jeep Wrangler, operated by Colleen L. Hazen, 19, of Saylorsburg, crashed into a 2001 Jeep Cherokee operated by Nicholas D. Abuiso, 28, of Long Pond, causing the Cherokee to roll over.Hazen, Abuiso, and passenger Kristine Napoli, 29, of Tobyhanna, were injured and taken by West End ambulances to the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg.Troopers cited both drivers. Hazen for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed, and Abuiso for driving while his license is suspended.Troopers investigated a crash at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday along Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue operated by Edward Mathews, 32, of Mount Pocono, rear-ended a 2001 Toyota Corolla driven by Matthew T. Smith 18, of Effort.No one was injured. Troopers cited Mathews for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
