The Panther Valley School Board voted to tax 18-year-olds.

Superintendent Andrew Chichura noted that the state granted people 18 and older to be considered adults in 1973 for purposes not including the consumption of alcohol. He also pointed out that students and those who are unemployed are exonerated from the tax, as are those of other ages who also fall into such categories. Two directors, Lou Bales and Lois Pecha, did not approve taxing the youth, but the other seven members supported it.Those in favor included Mary Llewellyn, Howard Heffelfinger, Tom Shober, Edith Marks, Daniel Gould, Ronald Polischak and Clair Rehrig.
