St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue, will hold a dedication service and dinner on Sunday, June 29, for the prayer garden that has been built to the rear of the church. Reservations are due by Sunday, June 22, and can be made by signing up at the church or calling Irene Remmel or Bonnie Hoffman.

Bible schoolEbenezer Evangelical Congregation Church will host a Vacation Bible School for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade. The program will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. June 16 to 20 at the church. To register your child call the church at 570-325-2855.Church newsThe Rite of Confirmation was held on Sunday during the morning worship service at St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue. Officiating at the service was the Rev. Muhr, assisted by Will Rodgers, Catechist. Members of the class were Emelyn Anne Shirley, Tracy Wayne Morris Jr. and Lauren Ashley Marks.Rodgers also congratulated members of the church who are 2014 graduates from high school and college. They include: Jim Thorpe Area High School, Kendall Juracka, Molly McArdle and Danielle Becker; CCTI, Charles Wallace; East Stroudsburg University, Thomas Hartman; Ursinus College, Nicole Murlo; Moravian College, Hilary Reis; and Philadelphia Lutheran Seminary, Daniel Eisenberg.BloodmobileThe American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at the Mason Building on Center Street from 1 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Those planning to donate should note the change of location.Class 1964Members of the 1964 graduating class of Jim Thorpe High School will meet Wednesday, June 18, at the Mauch Chunk Lake Park, Agnes McCartney pavilion. Members of the reunion committee will meet at 11 a.m. The pavilion has been reserved from 10 a.m. throughout the afternoon. An invitation has been extended to the members of the 1965 class to attend, as well.Members of the 1964 class are to contact Bea Ladd at 570-325-3854 or Donna Gerber Nilon, as to what picnic food items they should bring, if they haven't done so already. Members of the 1965 class are to bring their own picnic lunches.Bible studyThe Women's Ecumenical Bible Study group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 11 in the Good Shepherd Room of St. John's Lutheran Church, South Avenue. The group is presently studying the women of the Bible. Joan DeAcetis is the leader and all women of the community are invited to attend.
