Details unfold in Eldred shooting

State police have released more information about a shooting Thursday afternoon on Sycamore Drive in Eldred Township.

Dylan Michael Frantz, 20, of 104 Silver Spring Blvd., Kunkletown, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault after he admitted shooting Albert J. Guzman, of Effort, in the chest.

Guzman was flown to St. Luke's University Hospital-Bethlehem by medical helicopter where he underwent emergency surgery.

According to police, Frantz said he had stolen drugs and guns from Guzman.

Guzman asked a mutual acquaintance to set up a meeting with Frantz. They met at the Exxon Gas Station on Route 209 in Kresgeville and Guzman assaulted Frantz.

Guzman forced his way into a car owned by a friend of Frantz and drove Frantz, and Alexis and Elizabeth Finkel, who were occupants in the car, to Guzman's residence.

When Guzman learned the stolen drugs and firearms were at Finkels' house, he drove everyone to the Finkel house. Both Alexis and Elizabeth Finkel ran out of the car and into their house.

Guzman and Frantz got into a fight and Frantz shot Guzman.

Guzman was shot once in the chest.

State police at Lehighton barracks said Frantz admitted to the shooting, using a .45 caliber gun.

Frantz was taken into custody at the scene and was arraigned before District Judge C. Daniel Higgins Jr. of Stroud Township, who set bail at $500,000.

Charges are pending against Guzman.
