Wonderland this weekend

Carbon Schuylkill Community Theater will present "Wonderland" this weekend at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine St. in Tamaqua.

This children's musical is a sequel to "Alice in Wonderland" and based on the timeless classic, "Through the Looking Glass."Show times are 6:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. There is a reduced admission rate for seniors and students.Upset and frustrated by her mother (Shirley Rodgers), Alice (Katie Evans) wishes herself and the white bunny "through the looking glass" and into Wonderland.Upon arrival she is ignored by the Chess Pieces who later teach her that Wonderland is backwards.This timeless classic musical rendition is geared toward children of all ages. You will meet Tweedle Dee (Brenda Fritzinger) and Tweedle Dum (Zane Bachert) as they sing "The Walrus and the Carpenter." Watch Alice go from learning to play the game in "Check Mate" to earning her crown in "Step by Step."Additional cast members include Kim Klein as the Red Queen, Martha Cox as the White Queen and Andrew Surotchak as the White King.Jonathan M. Rodgers portrays the Red King, Fritzinger as the Red Pawn, Karen Tartar as the White Pawn, Shirley Rodgers as the Lion, and Kelly Surotchak as the Unicorn."Wonderland is produced under special arrangements with Pioneer Drama.The production will be held on the second floor of the arts center.
