Monroe man charged with drug trafficking

A Monroe County man has been charged with drug trafficking.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the MiddleDistrict of Pennsylvania announced that a criminal complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Scranton Wednesday charging Kerion Johnson, 40, with participating in a conspiracy to distribute heroin from November 2013 through April 2014.According to U.S. Attorney Peter Smith, the Information alleges that Johnson conspired with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin in Monroe County and elsewhere.The charge stems from an investigation by special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police.Johnson faces a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine if he is convicted of the charge.The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
