Large quantityof guns stolen

A large quantity of guns were stolen in a Monroe County burglary. It was one of several break-ins being investigated by state police at Lehighton.

Troopers said a home at 879 Hell Hollow Rd., in Polk Township, was entered sometime between May 27 at 1 p.m. and May 29 at 9 a.m. Removed from the home was 14 shotguns/rifles with a total value of $8,800.The home is owned by Dru Karaman, 52, of Highlands, N.J.Troopers are investigating the entry to the home of Larry Eugene Borger, 65, of 35 Mark Lane, Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Removed was miscellaneous monetary coins and a checkbook. The entry occurred sometime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 29.Troopers said a break-in occurred at a residence along Allen St., in Weissport. After entering the building the criminals turned off a sewer pump causing the sewage to back up in the property. The incident occurred sometime between 9 p.m. on May 17 and 12:55 a.m. on May 18.A summer home located along Queens Way, in Polk Township, Monroe County, was entered sometime between May 21-30, and removed was copper piping. The home is owned by Frank Kenny, of Bryn Mawr, Montgomery County.A farmhouse along Steckel Road, in Polk Township, owned by Steckel Farms LLC, was entered sometime between May 11-22. Taken was copper piping.Anyone with information concerning any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at 610-377-4270.
