State police at Lehighton are investigating two hit-and-run crashes, both in Carbon County.

Troopers said on Friday, a vehicle was being operated westbound on Route 895 (Lizard Creek Road), in East Penn Township, near the Carbon/Schuylkill line, when it crossed over the center line into the eastbound lane, where it struck a 2010 Kia Forte driven by Eugene S. Bartholomew, 81, of Andreas.After impact the driver fled the scene. Bartholomew continued on to his home and called troopers. He was not injured.The hit-and-run vehicle was described as a light-colored car that should have damage along the length of the driver's side.The second hit-and-run was reported at 3:15 p.m. on May 23 along Covered Bridge Road in Lower Towamensing Township.A vehicle was northbound and drove off the road making impact with the covered bridge. The driver then fled the scene.Anyone with information concerning either incident is asked to call troopers at 610-377-4270.
