Nesquehoning officer involved in fatal crash put on leave

Nesquehoning Officer Steven Homanko, who earlier this month was involved in a fatal crash while on duty, has been put on non-paid administrative leave.

During the Nesquehoning Borough Council meeting tonight, council approved Homanko's administrative leave until the completion of the accident investigation by Pennsylvania State Police. The leave is effective immediately.

Council President David Hawk explained that Homanko has not worked any shifts since the crash due to his medical condition and will not be scheduled until the investigation is complete.

State police have not indicated when the investigation will be done, Hawk said, noting that council was told it could be several weeks.
