State police at Lehighton reported the arrest of an Allentown man on drug counts.

Troopers said on May 15 about 5:35 p.m. vice unit members of the state police attempted to take Alberto Luis Rivera-Rosado, 20, into custody in Palmerton, as part of a drug investigation.During the incident Rivera-Rosado attempted to flee from troopers and discarded a loaded handgun and 150 bags containing suspected heroin.Rivera-Rosado was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal attempt-possession with intent, persons not to possess firearms, firearms not to be carried without a license, criminal use of a communication facility, possession, tampering with evidence, and resisting arrest.He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning.
