Three facing charges in Rush

Rush Township police are preparing to file charges against multiple people following an incident on May 17.

At 12:01 a.m., Hometown Fire Company and sewer department personnel were working at the intersection of Wyoming Street and Cumberland Avenue when two vehicles approached.As the vehicles stopped the driver of the second car got out, smashed the rear taillight of the first vehicle and then drove away. The victim said the other driver, Nathan Startzel, 19, of Tamaqua, had been trying to run him off the road on Claremont Avenue.After a short search, Startzel's vehicle was found and stopped. Startzel appeared to be intoxicated and was transported to the hospital for blood alcohol tests. A 13-year-old passenger was also found to be intoxicated and will be cited for underage drinking.A second passenger, Maximillian Schmitt, 18, of Tamaqua, had a marijuana bowl in his possession and will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.Startzel is facing numerous charges.
