Beginning today, weather permitting, Pleasant Valley Intermediate School is having field days, by grade. Those interested should meet at the park.Food Resource CenterThe Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort United Methodist Church will be open from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. The church is located at the Effort UMC Merwinsburg Road in Effort. Restrictions do apply.The church can be reached at 570-629-1890.Library movie timeThe Western Pocono Community Library holds a Saturday Matinee at 1 p.m. in the Community Room of the Western Pocono Community Library.The announced feature for this week is Adventures of the Penguin King.Children under 10 years must be accompanied by an adult.Free concertThe West End Park & Open Space Commission's free concerts return to the Chestnuthill Township Park, Route 715, Brodheadsville.The first will be A Tribute to Veterans.It will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday with Chris Eckert and Leigh Cole performing favorite patriotic songs by Neil Diamond, Lee Greenwood, Lady Gaga, Toby Keith and many more.Attendees are reminded to bring lawn chairs, blankets and bug spray.Yarn neededThe Prayer Shawl Ministry at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church needs yarn. This ministry meets one Saturday each month and creates prayer shawls that are given to the families of those who have lost a loved one. Please bring donations to the office. Anyone can join.
