A Reading man who crashed his vehicle on May 9 at 11:35 a.m. on Route 893, Summer Valley Road in West Brunswick Township, left the scene of the crash and attempted to report the vehicle stolen a short time after the crash.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said Norberto Vasquez, 37, was driving a 2005 Ford Windstar west when he attempted to pass a tractor trailer as it approached the crest of a hill.Police said he had to swerve the vehicle to avoid oncoming traffic, at which point the vehicle left the roadway and struck several small bushes and trees in a field south of the roadway. After the impact, police said the driver left the scene and attempted to file the false report.He was uninjured.Police said he will be cited.
