Sewer plans revised for subdivision

Mahoning Township supervisors passed a series of motions Wednesday night to revise sewer plans for a portion of the Summit Ridge subdivision, submit them to DEP and extend the plans by 90 days.

Last December, developer Bill Grant told supervisors he wanted to revise the plans for the upper level of the subdivision, off Route 902, when he attended that meeting to negotiate a new letter of credit. Supervisors learned recently Grant's son has since taken over managing the Summit Ridge project."According to (sewer enforcement officer) Scott Beiber, the surveyor (hired by the developer) is using old forms to gather information for DEP," said Supervisor Bruce Steigerwalt. He indicated that the development would not have been as far along as it is right now if it was not for Beiber doing some of the surveyor's work.Steigerwalt said Beiber is ready to get this phase of the project finished, but he is frustrated by the surveyor. "The developer complained the township is holding up the project, but Scott says the surveyor is actually the one holding it up."It was later clarified that the developer referred to by Steigerwalt was actually the developer's son.He told the board the purpose for the first action was to revise the plans for lot three in the subdivision, which was one of the parts of the subdivision that was a point of contention back in the winter. The revision deals with adjusting the sewer modules for that portion of the subdivision. "This will amend the 537 plan to account for the sewer module," Steigerwalt said.Motions to adopt the resolution and submit the sewage modules to DEP carried unanimously.A third motion was made by Supervisor Kerry Verrastro to grant the 90-day extension for the land development plan which was scheduled to expire on May 28, 2014. Haggerty said the developer furnished a revised set of plans that will need to be removed. The motion also carried 5-0.In other business, Solicitor Tom Nanovic told the board that new copies of the deeds would need to be furnished for the traffic light at Route 443 and Fredericks Grove Road at the entrance to Wal-Mart to be transferred to the township, but that no response was yet received from Wal-Mart on the issue, so it was tabled until next month.
