Woman jailed for setting fire

A Lehigh County woman was jailed on Tuesday, May 6, charged with starting a fire in Lehigh Township, Northampton County, and putting her young infant in danger.

Township police said they were dispatched for a welfare check in the 700 block of Almond Road. When police arrived boxes and other articles were on fire. Police determined that Jillian Faustner, 24, of Whitehall, had set the items on fire.Through the investigation police said Faustner came to the residence to retrieve her belongings and instead set them on fire next to an unoccupied structure. Faustner had her 5 month-old infant in the car, which was parked about 10 feet from the fire, as it burned the side of the house.Township police were able to slow the fire with extinguishers until the Lehigh Township Fire Company arrived on scene. No one was injured in the incident.Faustner was arrested and charged with arson, reckless burning, dangerous burning, risking a catastrophe, endangering the welfare of children, and criminal mischief.She was arraigned before District Judge Robert A. Hawke and committed to the county prison in Easton in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.
