Schuylkill driver faces charges of fleeing police in stolen car

A Schuylkill County driver is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault, following an incident that occurred in Lehigh County last month.

State police at Fogelsville said Brian Patrick Chapman, of Pottsville, is also charged with resisting arrest for an incident that occurred on April 26.Troopers said Chapman fled police in a stolen vehicle. He was first spotted in Emmaus and did not stop for police. A chase ensued that continued int Lower Macungie Township, where Chapman crashed the vehicle into a tree. He then fled on foot toward the Kohl's Department Store.Troopers said Chapman hid between parked cars and then lunged at one of the pursuing troopers when he approached. Due to the immediate threat that Chapman poised to the trooper, the officer fired his service weapon. Chapman resisted arrest but was arrested at the scene. Chapman was not injured as a result of the shooting.He was treated at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, for a minor injury.
