An elderly Schuylkill County woman was the victim of a phone scam, state police at Frackville said.

An 81-year-old female from Zion Grove, North Union Township, was contacted and requested to send money via a money gram to Panama City to help a family member. The request was a hoax.Troopers urge citizens not to send money to unknown recipients without checking the validity of the person making the request.
