Water on road causes crash

Water on the road was blamed for a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 7:12 p.m. Wednesday along Route 61 in West Brunswick Township, Schuylkill County. State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on that crash and a hit-and-run which also occurred Wednesday.

Troopers said Sukhchain S. Sidhu, 18, of Orwigsburg, was driving a 1996 Saturn SL southbound when his vehicle struck standing water on the road, which caused him to lose control.The car traveled through both southbound lanes and went onto the west berm. It traveled along the berm before striking a large PennDOT sign. The left side of the car struck the sign.After impact the car continued in a southwest direction and struck some trees where it came to rest.Sidhu sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene by Auburn ambulance personnel.The hit-and-run accident was reported about 2:20 p.m. along Spring Road in Wayne Township.Troopers said a vehicle was driven westbound in the parking lot of the Summit Station Post Office when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle, as the driver was parking, traveled westbound and struck a metal bar which was in front of the post office building.After impact the vehicle struck the building which caused some damage. The driver then left the scene without providing proper information as required.
