A single vehicle accident on Christmas Day is under investigation by Mahoning Township Police.
Police noted that the accident took place on Mahoning Mountain Road. The driver of the BMW fled the scene and was later identified by officers as Carol Natale of Bowmanstown.Natale has been charged with accidents involving damage to attended vehicle or property (misdemeanor); duty to give information and render aid (summary); driving with a suspended or revoked license (summary); careless driving (summary); and driving on the wrong side of the road (summary). A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 4.Police also investigated a two-vehicle accident at the Carbon Plaza Mall traffic light on Route 443.Joanne Szymanski-Mccray of Nesquehoning was operating one of the vehicles. A blood test showed the presence of butalbital, and oxycodone-free.As a result, she has been charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance (misdemeanor); and careless driving (summary). A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 4.
