A total of 33,055 Carbon County residents are eligible to participate in the 2014 primary election that will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, in the 51 election districts throughout the county's 23 municipalities.

That is the number of people registered in the Democratic and Republican parties, all which will have candidates from which to choose this month.As of the close of the registration period in April, the data shows there are 38,603 people on the voter registration rolls, this being 67 more people than the 38,536 people that were eligible to vote in the November 2013 election.Meanwhile, the Democratic Party continues to enjoy the registration plurality over the Republican Party. That difference is 3,917 voters. The Democrats have 18,486 eligible voters this time around while 14,569 Republicans are eligible.In addition to those three parties, the newest registration data shows there are 2,779 people who opt to have no affiliation, as well as 1,054 people who have declared themselves as "nonpartisans."
