A tractor-trailer rig crashed along Interstate 81 in Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County. State police at Frackville said the crash occurred about 3:15 a.m. Monday.

Troopers said Michael P. Chetner, 31, of Lake Peekskill, N.Y., was driving a 2014 Freightliner tractor with trailer southbound in the right lane when he lost control. The rig went onto the berm and struck the guide rail. It continued through the guide rail and into the median where it struck an embankment. It came to rest jackknifed in the median and facing southeast.Chetner was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, by Ryan Township ambulance.Troopers cited Chetner for the incident.
