Jim Thorpe American Legion Post 304 and the Germantown Grove Association will host the 61st annual Fishing Derby for Carbon County's special needs students. The event will take place May 8 and 9, beginning at 9 a.m., at the Germantown Grove.

Volunteers are needed for the two-day event. Anyone wishing to volunteer their fishing talents and to assist students can call Henry Desrosiers at 570-325-3986 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.Donations are also being accepted to help offset the costs of the fish and gifts for the students.
