Nesquehoning is looking for a few good volunteers.

During the borough council meeting this week, council said a number of committees need volunteers.Junior recreation committeeNesquehoning Mayor Sam Kitchko said that the junior recreation committee is looking for students interested in helping the borough.Any middle or high school student interested in joining the committee should call the borough office at 570-669-9588 and leave their name and number.The next meeting of the group will be at the regular recreation committee meeting on June 2.Recreation committeeThree or four positions are available on the recreation committee, Councilman Mark Stromelo reported. The committee oversees the Nesquehoning Rec Center and may begin looking at maintaining the parks.Interested parties should call the borough hall to leave their information, which will be forwarded to the committee.Neighborhood WatchThe Neighborhood Watch group is also looking for new members, Kitchko said.Anyone interested in joining should either call the borough hall or attend the next meeting, slated for 6:30 p.m. May 13, in the borough building.CleanupKitchko said volunteers are also needed to help spruce up the parks in the borough. Plans include planting flowers and cleaning up the areas.Call the borough if interested in helping. No dates have been set as to when the cleanups will occur.
