State police at Lehighton are investigating an assault and kidnapping in Eldred Township.

Troopers said the 30-year-old man reported he was unlawfully taken from Kunkletown Road at 1:45 a.m. April 12 by three males wearing ski masks. The victim reported he was placed in the trunk of the suspects’ vehicle, described as a large, black sedan. The suspects drove for approximately 10 minutes before they stopped the vehicle and had the victim get out. The victim reported they threatened him with a knife. He said he escaped into the woods and was later found in the Kunkletown area and transported to Palmerton Hospital by West End EMS for evaluation.

The Polk Township and Kunkletown fire departments assisted in the search for the victim.
