Scholarship opportunity available to Carbon Co. high school seniors

Lehigh Carbon Community College and the Lehigh Carbon Community College Foundation have combined to offer a special scholarship pool for qualified high school students from Carbon County.

Graduating seniors from Jim Thorpe High School, Lehighton High School, Panther Valley High School, Palmerton High School and Carbon Career & Technical Institute are eligible to apply.The LCCC Three C Scholarship is available for two years of study at the LCCC Jim Thorpe campus. The student enrolls for 12 credits in the fall semester and 12 credits in the spring the Three C scholarship pays for six credits in each semester."This scholarship pays for half of your college tuition," said LCCC financial aid director, Marian Snyder. "Students start here with a scholarship which pays for six of their 12 credits of tuition per semester. They then can transfer to a four-year university or finish their associate degree."Each award is for two back-to-back semesters, fall and spring, and may be renewed once by reapplying before the start of the second year and by continuing to meet the requirements of the scholarship. The scholarship is not available for summers or interim academic periods.The LCCC Three C Scholarship covers tuition only. However, those receiving additional grants such as Pell grants may use the funds to cover books and supplies necessary for their coursework.For more information regarding eligibility, families are encouraged to visit
