Close the Loop hosts sixth annual Give and Take Day
The Close the Loop Company will host its sixth annual "Give and Take Day" on Saturday, April 26.
Close the Loop is a local recycled products company. Its annual free event is to encourage responsible reuse and community spirit. As you close your eyes, imagine a world in which there is truly no waste no litter, no landfills, and everything is reused, reduced or recycled. We are capable of achieving this, at least on Saturday. This is where people reuse items instead of merely throwing them away, saving costly landfill expense and valuable natural resources, and the items stay within the local community.Give a useful item from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and then take anything you want for free from 1 p.m.-4 p.m.There are monetary benefits as well. A major one is that all items are free. Anything that isn't snatched up at the event will be sent to nonprofits and local churches, including the Monroe County Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity. Up to this point, an estimated 11,000 pounds, worth tens of thousands of dollars, have been saved from going to waste in the landfills from these events alone."We are so thankful to the Chestnuthill Township Supervisors, the Monroe County RSVP and the Junkologist.com, who have been major volunteers and supporters to help make this event a success for many years, and it just keeps growing. The event would be nothing without the community coming together to make this event so generous and spirited," said Rita Lacey from Close the Loop Company."We love Pete Seeger's quote 'If it can't be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled or composted, then it should be restricted, redesigned or removed from production," Lacey said.Close the Loop was established in October 2000 with a dedication to helping preserve the environment and a desire to help others who are also committed to this goal. Products are made in the U.S. from state-of-the-art recycling of plastic waste for the fencing and plastic lumber market, including posts, split rail and vineyard poles. They also offer vibrant colored glass mulch, rubber mulch, rubber landscape timbers, rubber pavers and more, made from recycled materials. For more information, please visit
