Pharmacy recognized for winning awards

Harrisburg - State Rep. Julie Harhart, R-Lehigh/Northampton, congratulates Bechtel's Pharmacy for having the distinction as the only pharmacy in Pennsylvania to receive two national Bowl of Hygeia Awards.

The award is part of a national program sponsored by the American Pharmacists Association and the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations. It is awarded to a pharmacist who demonstrates sustained commitment to community service, apart for his or her specific identification as a pharmacist, which reflects well on the profession of the pharmacy."Slatington is fortunate to have a family-owned pharmacy that is so dedicated to serving the community," Harhart said. "Achieving such recognition demonstrates that Bechtel's Pharmacy understands success takes more than a good business plan; it takes caring enough about the people you serve to get involved and try and make a difference. The Bechtels do this through so many professional and community endeavors, so I am not surprised by their recognition."Edward J. Bechtel won the Bowl of Hygeia Award in 2013, and his father, Joseph G. Bechtel, won the award in 1994.Harhart presented a citation from the House of Representatives recently to Edward Bechtel in recognition of winning the award.
