Raider band concert

The Tamaqua Area High School Raider Concert Band will present its annual Spring concert on May 1 in the Tamaqua School District Auditorium.The concert will feature the Raider Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and Jazz Band, under the direction of Mark Beltz.The combined ensembles feature more than 130 student musicians in grades 7 through 12, performing music from a variety of styles and periods.Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:45 p.m., with the concert scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.Senior citizensThe Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met April 10 with 57 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker conducted the business session and Jacque Patrick provided the invocation "Little Way to Calvary."Nora Shiedy was added to the sick list. Reports were offered by secretary Ruth Ann Feane and treasurer Penny Schlorf. Dues for 2014 are still being accepted.The meeting concluded with cards and social games.The seniors meet at 1 p.m. every Thursday, at the Masonic Lodge, located on Route 54 (east) in Hometown.
