April 17, 1979 Mark Shupp captures first place in three events to help the Palmerton boys track team gain an 87-63 Centennial League win over Lehighton. Shupp takes the 300 hurdles in 44.1, claims the 400 in 53.36 and turns in a distance 20-2 to win the long jump. Paul Scholz also contributes to the victory with firsts in the high jump (5-10) and triple jump (38-6 ). Other individual winners for the Bombers include Dan Minnich (110 hurdles) and John Andreas (shot put).
