A Tamaqua man was charged in connection with a domestic assault in the borough on April 8.
The victim told police she was involved in an argument that morning with Kevin K. Kaufman, 22, of 124 Clay St., at a home on South Greenwood Street. He allegedly shoved her on to a bed, then grabbed her right arm, digging his nails into her flesh. He then left the home with their 15-month-old child.Later the same day she again encountered Kaufman, this time near Boyer's Food Market on Cedar Street. As she was walking to her car he caught up to her, ripped sunglasses from her face and shoved her to the ground. When a male bystander intervened, asking the victim if she needed help, Kaufman fled.Kaufman was contacted and turned himself in at the police station.He was arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
