Gubernatorial candidates begin showing tax returns

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Two Democratic candidates for governor have released their tax returns for 2012 after seeking extensions for the 2013 tax year.

U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz and former state environmental protection secretary Katie McGinty each made the disclosures this week. Four other candidates have not released theirs.In 2012, Schwartz and her husband David reported $140,000 in taxes on $560,000 in adjusted income after subtracting $106,000 in deductions and exemptions. Income included Schwartz' congressional salary, her state pension and her husband's salary as a physician.McGinty and her husband Karl Hausker reported $251,000 in taxes on $895,000 in adjusted income after subtracting $112,500 in deductions and exemptions. Income included her salary from Weston Solutions, his salary from ICF International and McGinty's consulting fees.McGinty has reported loaning her campaign $535,000.
