Troopers probe crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers.

A two-vehicle crash occurred at 11:22 a.m. on Monday, April 14, along Route 209, a half mile south of Route 33, in Hamilton Township, Monroe County.Troopers said Michael S. Rohs, 53, of Allentown, was traveling southbound in the right lane while Elizabeth A. Boyle, 48, of Drums, Luzerne county, was in the left lane, with Ross slightly in front of Boyle.Troopers said Ross attempted to make a U-turn to get onto 209 north, and did not know Boyle was behind him. As he turned, his Nissan Frontier drove into Boyle's 2010 Jeep Wrangler.Upon impact the Nissan spun about a half turn before coming to rest in the grassy median. The Jeep came to rest in its lane of travel.Boyle sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Ross was not injured. The Jeep had to be towed from the scene.Troopers cited Ross for driving on roadways laned for traffic.A one-vehicle crash was reported about 10:55 a.m. on Monday along Meckesville Road, near Route 534, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County.Troopers said Idrees Shafi, 18, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was driving a 2001 Lexus northbound when she failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and went onto the berm where the car struck the guide rail.Shafi and two passengers, both from Brooklyn, were all not injured. Troopers cited Shafi for driving at an unsafe speed.
