Man jailed for resisting arrest

A Kunkletown man was jailed on Monday following an incident in Lehighton.

State police at Lehighton said troopers responded to 220 White St., at 4:03 p.m. for a report of a fight between two males. Upon arrival one of the males had fled the scene.After further investigation police took Matthew Scott Haydt, 26, into custody following a foot pursuit in the area of 202 N. Main Lane, near the Dunbar Bottling Co. in Lehighton.Troopers said Haydt resisted them and a stun gun was used stop him. He was arraigned before on-call District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, of Lansford, and was committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning after failing to post $50,000 bail.Troopers were assisted by off-duty Fountain Hill police officer Kevin Smith, and multiple officers from Lehighton police. Trooper Shaun M. Flynn, the arresting officer, was assisted by Trooper Robert Kirby.
