Hiker dies in fall from Glen Onoko Falls

A 20-year-old man fell to his death this afternoon at Glen Onoko Falls in that state game lands in Lehigh Township, within the Lehigh Gorge State Park.

According  to reports on the scene, Jesse Crossly of Catasauqua fell 30 feet. State Police at Hazleton said Crossly was hiking with a group of friends when he lost his footing at 12:10 p.m.Carbon County Coroner Bruce Nalesnik said Crossly died from the second waterfall, close to where a woman fell to her death in August 2013. Nalesnik pronounced Crossly dead at the scene at 2:23 .m.Rescue squads on scene include Lehighton, Jim Thorpe, Nesquehoning and Penn Forest.The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources was on scene as well as Pennsylvania State Police. The state police warn visitors to this dangerous section to pay attention to the posted warnings in the area. Visitors are warned to wear proper footwear for hiking and above all, use common sense.
